The People's Ballot

Privacy, corrections and legal

The short version: we don't track you, we show our sources, and we fix mistakes fast.

Who we are

The People's Ballot is an independent voter guide paid for by Make Good Change, Bobby LaPin, Registered Agent. We are not a government agency or an election office. We are not part of any political party, and we are not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee.

This is not a ballot, and not legal advice

This is an unofficial voter guide. It is not an official ballot or sample ballot. Always read your own ballot carefully and mark it yourself. Election dates, deadlines and rules can change, so check with your state or county election office or vote.gov before you rely on them. Nothing on this site is legal advice.

Our picks are our opinions

Our recommendations, including every "Why we vote" and "Why we pick" box, are our opinions about public issues and public officials. The facts we rely on are linked right next to them: official ballot language, voter guides, House and Senate roll-call votes, campaign finance filings and news reports. A link to a source doesn't mean that source agrees with our picks. Read the sources and make up your own mind. You get the final say.

Corrections

We work hard to get things right. If you think something here is wrong or out of date, email corrections@thepeoplesballot.org. Tell us the page, what's wrong, and a source if you have one. We review every request quickly. When we find an error, we fix it, and if it's a significant change we'll say so on the page.

Your privacy

We built this site to collect as little as possible about you.

  • No accounts, no forms, no ads. We don't ask for your name, email, address or phone number, and we don't sell or share anyone's information.
  • No tracking cookies or analytics. We don't use advertising trackers, Facebook or Google tracking pixels, or visitor analytics on this site.
  • Your language choice stays on your device. If you pick English or Spanish, your browser remembers it in local storage. It never leaves your device, and you can clear it anytime in your browser settings.
  • Our web host. The site is hosted by Netlify, which, like every web host, automatically keeps basic server logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) for security and to keep the site running. See Netlify's privacy policy.
  • Fonts and the map. To show our fonts and the U.S. map, your browser loads files from Google Fonts and jsDelivr. Like any website, those services can see your IP address when your browser asks for the files.
  • Links to other sites. We link to election offices, news outlets, government records and campaign websites. Once you leave our site, their privacy policies apply, not ours.
  • Kids. This site is meant for voters and isn't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone.

Photos, flags and sharing

State flags are official government symbols. Our cover photo is used under license, and we don't use AI-generated images. Candidate names and voting records are public information. You're welcome to print and share our phone ballots and print cards, as long as you share them unchanged, with the "Paid for by" line. If you believe something on this site uses your work without permission, email corrections@thepeoplesballot.org and we'll respond promptly.

Handing out guides

If you share printed guides, follow your state's rules. At minimum, stay at least 100 feet from ballot drop boxes and voting places (some states require more), never put guides in mailboxes, and never leave guides at drop boxes or polling places. Volunteers are responsible for following the laws where they hand out materials.

No guarantees

We provide this guide as-is, as a free public resource, and we do our best to keep it accurate and current. We can't promise it's free of errors, and we aren't responsible for decisions you make based on it or for the content of other websites we link to. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any loss or damage from using this site.

Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to use this guide, on any phone, in English or Spanish. If something is hard to read or use, email corrections@thepeoplesballot.org and we'll help and fix it.
